Gaze is a conceptual female based nudie magazine with a narrative formed from contemporary art and photography that challenges the male gaze and creates a space for ideas based on the female gaze. Reframing the notion that a woman’s body is solely for the judgement and viewing pleasure of men. This publication is for everyone interested in the ever growing movement in body positivity and sexuality.

Gaze uses photography that conveys the feeling of an overall piece of art as opposed to just relying heavily on the naked female form to garner attention. The photographs are paired with strong use of plays on typography that reference David Lynch films, nutrition labels, and 70’s typefaces that allude to a decade of the sexual revolution.

Halyard Display Type was chosen for its wide range of weights to carry cohesion throughout the publication with its grotesque forms that are adaptable to each article. Casey is a supple, fat-bottomed script that straddles full-retro with a wavy rhythm to its strokes, bowls, and connections that stands out against the more straightforward forms of Halyard Display.
